Sick Building Syndrome Screening
The term sick building syndrome
(SBS) is used to describe situations where building occupants experience acute health and comfort effects which seem to be related to the time spent in a building, but where no specific illness or cause can be identified. Inadequate ventilation, chemical contaminants from both indoor and outdoor sources, and biological contaminants from within the building are believed to be the leading causes of SBS. EPS Environmental Services, Inc. provides our clients with appropriate screening of buildings with suspect SBS. We perform indoor air quality investigations and walk-through surveys to identify possible explanations for the complaint. We work to provide solutions to SBS which are usually a combination of pollutant source removal or modification, increasing ventilation rates, and air cleaning.
